Man charged with felony after missing Alabama teen found in Magee

Authorities have found a missing Alabama teen in Magee.

According to a press release, the Magee Police Department got a call from the Excel Police Department requesting assistance in locating Destiny Irene Day, 16 years old.

Her parents reported her missing at 7 p.m. Thursday.

According to MPD, an officer saw the teen’s vehicle in a retail area near AutoZone and Hibbett Sports.

When the police approached, the vehicle was empty.

However, the Sergeant of Investigation resumed his surveillance and observed the missing adolescent exit Hibbett Sports with a male companion.

Officers then converged to safely recover the teen. The man’s name was Thomas Reed Shea, 22.

The Excel Police Department reports that they have charged him with a felony in Alabama and are currently awaiting extradition. There are more charges pending.

Magee City Jail is currently holding Shea captive.

According to EPD, the two met on social media before Shea drove her across the state line from Excel, Alabama.
