Arrest made after juvenile makes threats to Newfane and Lockport school districts

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department  made an announcement on Tuesday night, stating that they have arrested a juvenile in connection with threats made at two school districts in Niagara County.

On Tuesday, September 17, officials from both Newfane and Lockport schools communicated with parents about a threat that had been made against their campuses. In order to prioritize the safety of the students, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department ensured that there was an increased police presence at both schools.

According to a statement by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, the arrest was made as a result of a collaborative investigation conducted by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau and the City of Lockport Police Detective Bureau. The investigation was initiated in response to a social media threat that targeted the Newfane and Lockport School Districts.

The authorities have decided not to release the name of the suspect to the public due to their status as a juvenile. It remains unclear whether the student was attending Newfane or Lockport schools.
