Firefighter sent to hospital after fighting two-alarm fire at barn in Genesee County

A barn in Genesee County was ravaged by fire on Monday afternoon.

According to Elba Fire Chief Michael Heale, crews were dispatched to the structure on Bridge Road in Elba shortly after 12:30 p.m., where a second alarm was issued following the roof’s collapse.

A firefighter was transported to United Memorial Medical Center for assessment. At that time, the barn was devoid of individuals, livestock, or equipment.

A cause is currently being investigated.
