Florida Highway Patrol arrest Pensacola man following pursuit that culminates in accident

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper found himself in a pursuit with a Pensacola man, resulting in a collision that led to multiple charges for the suspect.

An FHP spokesperson reported that a trooper spotted a black Jeep Wagoneer driving recklessly while conducting traffic enforcement in Escambia County. The incident took place on County Road 727 near Stanford Road.

According to the spokesperson, the trooper used his emergency equipment to signal the vehicle to stop. However, the driver quickly accelerated and tried to escape.

The trooper initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, which lasted for a brief period. Eventually, the black Jeep Wagoneer collided with a tree on the lawn of a residence located on the 300 block of Cherokee Trail in Pensacola.

Dante Jamon Walker, a 24-year-old, was apprehended without any additional trouble and emerged unharmed from the collision.

Walker was discovered in possession of drugs as well as a firearm.

Walker faces multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, and driving without a valid license.

He is currently being held in the Escambia County Jail, with a bond amounting to $31,000.
