Houston County Suggests Lodging Tax to Fund Recreation Upgrades

In an effort to finance recreational enhancements throughout the county, Houston County has implemented a new lodging levy on hotel-stays. This week, county commissioners are inviting residents to participate in a meeting to inquire about the proposal and obtain additional information.

There are three opportunities to confer with officials: Commissioner Adams will be present at the Ashford Town Council meeting at 6 p.m. tonight (9/16).

Commissioner Ivey and Chairman Shoupe will be accessible at the Wicksburg Library at 6 p.m. tonight (9/16). Commissioner Herring and Chairman Shoupe will convene at the Rehobeth Town Hall tomorrow (9/17) at 6 p.m. to conduct a meeting with residents.
