Montgomery County Commission passes budget for fiscal year 2025

The Montgomery County Commission has given its approval to a budget of $149,167,050 for the fiscal year 2025. The main areas of focus for this budget will be economic development, public safety, and investments in infrastructure.

The budget allocates $54 million for general government operations, $51 million for public safety, and $18 million for roads and highways.

Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton expressed his dedication to securing the future of Montgomery County through strategic investments in safety, infrastructure, and community services. He emphasized the importance of building a stronger and more resilient county while upholding fiscal responsibility.

The budget encompasses a salary boost for all county employees, notable alterations to the Public Safety and Corrections pay structures, and provisions for merit-based raises.

The Construction Programs Fund in the budget will receive over $1.6 million for a range of upgrades to important county facilities. This includes $85,000 designated for park improvements and $440,000 for fuel equipment upgrades. These investments reflect the county’s commitment to maintaining top-notch operational standards.

The budget for public safety allocates $900,000 to acquire law enforcement vehicles and equipment, guaranteeing that the Sheriff’s Office possesses the essential resources to uphold safety and operational efficiency.

The budget also includes funding for various recreational department activities, such as the Montgomery City County Library System, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, and other cultural and recreational endeavors. A noteworthy allocation of $7.7 million has been set aside specifically for these activities.
