MV Water Authority Gives $25 Credit for Helpful Info on Customer Service Lines

The Mohawk Valley Water Authority is asking the public for help with pipe verification.

The New York State Department of Health requires drinking water systems to inventory service line materials that connect the water main to homes or businesses.

“To support this initiative, the Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA) is requesting assistance from specific customers whose service line is listed in our records as lead or an ‘unknown’ material. At these locations, we must verify whether the service pipe is copper, lead, galvanized iron, or another material,” the release stated.

Customers who submit usable information, along with a photograph, will be rewarded with a $25 credit on their next water bill.

This week, “detailed information about the program will be sent to homes identified in our records as having either a lead service line or unknown material. Only those homeowners or tenants who receive the mailing will be eligible to participate and receive the credit,” the MVWA noted in the release. Click here for more information.
