Two Rochester teenagers are facing charges following a burglary at a Livingston County gun shop.
About 2 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to a shop on Main Street in Caledonia with a complaint of a burglary in progress. He observed a suspicious car with evidence of theft, a shattered window at the company, and numerous people using flashlights inside the building.
As more deputies arrived, Jakeim Donald, 19, and a 16-year-old boy attempted to flee, but the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office apprehended them after a brief foot chase while they were in possession of guns taken from the shop.
According to the LeRoy Police Department, one of their officers assisted in the arrest of the suspects at gunpoint.
Investigators established that the suspects had stolen a vehicle from Hilton and used it during the crime.
Both individuals are facing charges of burglary, grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen items, and conspiracy. They also charge Donald with possessing burglary tools.
Livingston County Jail booked Donald on a $2,000 bail or $5,000 bond. Livingston County Family Court received the 16-year-old suspect before handing him over to a parent.
