Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy and Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenny have both voiced their concerns and called for enhanced security measures in response to the situation.
Representative Langworthy expressed his strong disapproval of the recurrent political violence directed at President Trump, stating that such actions are unacceptable and go against the principles of America. He emphasized that this kind of behavior cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Moreover, he criticized Democrats, Kamala Harris, and the media for escalating tensions instead of working towards de-escalation after the first assassination attempt on President Trump. Langworthy argued that their inflammatory rhetoric has only fueled division and violence. Due to the increasing threats, he called on President Biden to provide President Trump with the same level of security typically granted to a sitting President, emphasizing the need to ensure his safety.
Rep. Tenney expressed her relief on s social media, stating that she was grateful to hear that President Trump was safe following another attack on his life. She commended the Secret Service agents for their quick response and called for unity to put an end to the ongoing wave of political violence against the President. In a subsequent post, she expressed her bewilderment at the recurring incidents and emphasized the need for President Trump to receive the same, if not higher, level of Secret Service protection as a sitting President.
Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Chuck Schumer commended the Secret Service, for their swift action in ensuring the safety of former President Trump. In a briefing with the Acting Director of the Secret Service, Schumer expressed his appreciation for their prompt response. He emphasized that political violence has no place in the country and called for the perpetrator to be fully prosecuted according to the law.
Democratic Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz expressed his strong stance against political violence, stating that there can be no excuse for it in any form. He commended the secret service and law enforcement for their swift action in apprehending the suspect involved in the recent attempt against former President Trump. Poloncarz also expressed relief that the former President was unharmed.
