According to a study conducted by HostingAdvice, Monroe County, which is located in the Black Belt region, has experienced the most significant growth in broadband connectivity over the last four years.

According to County Health Rankings data comparing broadband accessibility from 2020 to 2024, Arkansas ranked No. 1, with Alabama closely following at No. 2.

Alabama experienced a significant 8% surge, equating to a staggering 192,663 households. Similarly, Monroe County witnessed a remarkable 21% increase, resulting in an additional 1,172 households. Meanwhile, both Franklin and Crenshaw counties remained unchanged during this period.

“Having access to broadband connectivity is no longer considered a luxury, but a necessity for the way we live today,” emphasized Christina Lewis, an expert from HostingAdvice. Lewis further added, “Our study not only showcases the advancements being made in different states and counties, but it also emphasizes the importance of continuous investment in digital infrastructure to ensure that all communities can flourish in our ever-connected world.”
