Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels, a Democrat from Huntsville, announced his endorsement of Shomari FiguresĀ , the Democratic nominee for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District. The endorsement took place in Montgomery on Monday.
According to Daniels, who competed against Figures in the primary and runoff for the Democratic nomination in the district, this election holds immense significance in American history. Daniels is urging voters from all political backgrounds to rally behind Figures, stating that he is the most qualified candidate to tackle various pressing issues in the district, such as improving healthcare access, addressing economic disparities, and combatting gun violence.
“This upcoming election will serve as a crucial examination of the strength and resilience of our Constitution. Additionally, it will put to the test our trust in the public officials and institutions responsible for ensuring our elections in Alabama are conducted freely and fairly,” remarked Daniels.
Caroleene Dobson, an attorney, will be facing the Republican nominee in the upcoming November election.
Figures expressed his gratitude for receiving the endorsement from a key figure within the Democratic Party in Alabama.
According to Daniels, he has full confidence in Figures’ ability to bring federal resources to the region, highlighting Figures’ extensive experience in Washington, D.C.
The 2nd Congressional District, which was redrawn in the previous year, encompasses Montgomery and spans from Mobile County in the southwest corner of the state all the way to the Georgia border, passing through the southern Black Belt region.
