Authorities seek driver involved in deadly hit-and-run incident

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking the driver responsible for a tragic hit and run incident that occurred last month. They are committed to bringing justice to the grieving family affected by this heartbreaking event.

New surveillance video has been released by deputies in the case involving 31-year-old Kameron Tompkins. It shows Tompkins riding his motorcycle on Center Point Parkway when he was struck by a vehicle in August. The driver responsible for the accident fled the scene, according to deputies.

According to Metro Alabama Crimestoppers Director Bob Copus, it has been over a month since the incident, but they have not received any tips regarding this case.

According to Copus, Center Point Parkway is a bustling road, and he firmly believes that there must be witnesses who saw something. He urges anyone who has any information to step forward.

In the video, you can witness the motorcycle colliding with a black car. Currently, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for both the driver and the car involved in the incident. Based on their investigation, they suspect the car to be an older model Nissan Altima. If you have any information regarding this incident, the authorities urge you to contact Crime Stoppers.

“We must identify the individual responsible for this act. The motive behind their departure remains unknown, and it is possible that fear compelled them to leave,” expresses Copus. “However, it is crucial that they come forward because this matter will not be resolved on its own. If you have any knowledge of the person’s identity or witnessed the incident, it is imperative that you report it. I often pose this question: How would you react if it happened to your family?”

Traffic accident investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are currently handling the case. Copus emphasizes that the lack of information about the driver could potentially impede progress in the investigation.
