Beeker is set to complete his father’s term for Place 2 on the commission, which is responsible for overseeing utilities in the state. Beeker’s father, who was initially elected to the commission in 2014, made the difficult decision to resign due to health issues.
In a statement, Governor Ivey expressed confidence in Chris’s ability to serve as public service commissioner, emphasizing his deep understanding of the needs of Alabama communities and its citizens. She believes that Chris will be able to start making a positive impact right from the start.

According to Beeker, his father’s decision was not made lightly, and he fully understands the significant responsibility he now carries.
Beeker expressed his gratitude and humility as he accepted the appointment to fulfill his father’s term as Commissioner, Place 2, for the Alabama Public Service Commission.
Ivey also mentioned that Beeker has a strong track record in both government and business. She highlighted his leadership role in a major federal agency where he oversaw substantial investments in economic development and improvements to water and sewer infrastructure throughout Alabama.
Beeker, under former President Donald Trump, also held the position of USDA rural development director for the state of Alabama.
Beeker will immediately begin his term of office.
