A former correctional officer from Alabama has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison. The officer was found guilty of collaborating with an inmate to smuggle methamphetamine into the state facility where he was employed. This news was confirmed by prosecutors on Tuesday.

According to federal prosecutor Doug Howard, in June 2023, three bags of meth were discovered inside Henry Guice Jr.’s car by investigators with a canine unit. The car was parked at Stanton Correctional Facility in Elmore County, where Guice was employed.

In May, Guice, a former Alabama Department of Corrections officer, admitted to possession with the intent to distribute during a plea hearing. Brad Elliot Gordon, a 48-year-old inmate at the facility, was indicted in June for allegedly conspiring with Guice to sell the drugs. Gordon’s trial is set for February.

Guice’s lawyers have chosen not to provide any comments at this time.
