Fatal accident on interstate in Etowah County results in the death of two men

Two men lost their lives in a tragic accident on Interstate 59 last week. The truck they were traveling in was involved in a crash, resulting in their untimely demise.

James Dayries, a 64-year-old resident of Baker, La., and Mairi Scott, a 72-year-old from Knoxville, Tenn., tragically lost their lives when the GMC box truck they were operating veered off the interstate and collided with a tree. Despite immediate medical attention, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is currently being investigated by ALEA’s patrol division.
