GCC student facing charges for allegedly bringing firearm onto campus

Campus Safety received a report through a social media post that supposedly depicted the student holding what seemed to be a handgun.

Officials from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office have reported that a student at the Batavia campus of College Village Student Housing was found in possession of an unregistered pistol. The firearm was loaded with a high-capacity magazine. It is worth noting that the building where the student was located is designated for educational purposes.

According to the police, there is currently no evidence suggesting that Parks made any threats to use the gun.

Parks faces charges of possessing a weapon in the third degree and possessing a weapon on school grounds.

After being arraigned in Genesee County CAP Court, he was immediately remanded to the county jail. The bail amount was set at $25,000 in cash or $5,000 in bond.
