Alexis Hawkins and Brian Winston Jr. were arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Jarrell Lamont Pryor.
Two persons in Indiana have been accused in the death of a 26-year-old father who was killed in a heist reportedly orchestrated by a woman; he mistook her for a date.
Alexis Hawkins, 19, and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Brian Winston Jr., were arrested and charged with murder in the death of Jarrell Lamont Pryor. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was fatally shot on the morning of January 25. The single father was killed after agreeing to a date with Hawkins that fateful day.
When police arrived, they found Pryor lying on the ground near a vehicle. He was transferred to the local hospital but died as a result of gunshot wounds sustained during the attack. Hawkins and Winston were suspects from the beginning of the investigation. Hawkins was captured a month after the incident on Feb. 26, while Winston was apprehended and arrested in Austin, Texas, on April 2 before being extradited to Indiana.
While investigating Pryor’s death, authorities searched his phone and uncovered communications he exchanged with Hawkins on Instagram, where the two allegedly met. Hawkins allegedly defrauded other guys on the app. According to the information gathered, Pryor believed he was planning a date with the 19-year-old. According to the affidavits, he sought to arrange plans with her several hours before the incident. The victim told Winston about her past experiences defrauding other men during their conversation. According to police, viewing those messages revealed that she had planned to rob Pryor.
Video footage showed Pryor and Hawkins inside a car outside a liquor store approximately an hour before the incident. The authorities are unsure when Winston arrived at the shooting site, but they believe he was the shooter.
