Man arrested for driving under the influence and trafficking in Morgan County

A man in Morgan County was taken into custody on Saturday morning for charges of DUI and trafficking.

The Priceville Police Department reported that a reckless driver on Interstate 65 around mile marker 330 led to an incident around 2 a.m.

Police were able to locate the vehicle on Highway 67 in Decatur, as it was observed driving recklessly, changing lanes frequently, and even crossing into oncoming traffic.

The Priceville police pulled over a driver near Beltline Road and Sandlin Road due to their reckless driving, which was endangering other motorists.

After stopping and investigating the incident, law enforcement officials apprehended George Edward Williams Jr., a 33-year-old resident of Decatur, on charges of driving under the influence (DUI).

Investigators stated that Williams was found to be in possession of a significant quantity of marijuana in his vehicle, resulting in an additional charge of cannabis trafficking.

Williams is currently in custody at the Morgan County Jail, as he was transported there. He is being held on a bond of $11,000.00.
