The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department is warning the community about a recent and concerning scam that is targeting individuals.
In a recent social media post, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office highlighted the ever-evolving tactics used by scammers to deceive and intimidate individuals into sending them money.
These fraudulent individuals have taken to utilizing mapping images of neighborhoods and street views of homes to further alarm potential victims. As a result, the Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder urging people to exercise caution when receiving emails, text messages, or pop-ups that aim to instill fear and coerce them into making financial transactions.
The important advice given by the Sheriff’s Office is to refrain from clicking on any suspicious links or opening attachments, particularly when the messages are designed to intimidate and manipulate recipients.
