State Representative John “Tracy” Estes, 57, was hit with a protection order on Friday night, just two hours before being booked on a domestic violence charge in Marion County.

Estes faces a charge of third degree domestic violence, classified as a Class A misdemeanor. Unfortunately, no information regarding bail is currently available.

House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter issued the following statement:

“I am aware of the situation involving Rep. Estes and I have complete faith that our justice system will determine the appropriate actions,” Ledbetter expressed. “The people of Alabama deserve the highest standard from their elected representatives, and I expect that House Members maintain integrity in both their professional and personal lives.”

WBRC is actively gathering additional details regarding the arrest and will update this story with any new information as it becomes accessible.
