Husband faces reckless homicide charges for providing wife with a gun in a suicidal situation

A man from Ohio is currently incarcerated for allegedly providing his wife with a loaded pistol when she threatened to commit suicide. She subsequently used the gun to end her own life.

Police have reported that Michael Joseph Krupienski, 71, provided his wife, Maria, 81, with the weapon she used to commit suicide at their residence in Vermilion on Sunday. Chris Hartung, the Chief of the Vermilion Police Department, informed Fox 8 Cleveland. that the officers discovered Maria deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound upon their arrival.

Krupienski informed the authorities that the couple had consumed alcohol at the VFW in Avon prior to their return home.

He stated that the anniversary of their daughter’s suicide was approaching and that Maria, who was under the influence of alcohol, “thought of suicide out loud.”

Krupienski, according to the police, retrieved a loaded.357-magnum handgun and presented it to her in an attempt to “call her bluff.” She subsequently committed suicide.

Krupienski was apprehended and accused with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony. He will be arraigned at the Vermilion Municipal Courthouse on Tuesday morning.

At present, he is being detained in the Erie County Jail without bond.
