The Alabama Department of Transportation Director had the charges against him dismissed on Tuesday, according to reports.

John Cooper faced legal trouble in 2023 when he was taken into custody and charged with harassment. The allegations against him involved threatening his neighbor with a firearm due to a perceived act of trespassing.

On Monday, instead of appearing for a bench trial in Marshall County, Cooper’s attorneys were focused on a separate civil suit.

Gerald Carter, the defendant in the civil suit, has accused Cooper of threatening him.

Cooper’s business, South Sauty Creek Resort, has filed a lawsuit against Carter for damages. According to the documents, Carter has been accused of trespassing and utilizing the resort’s property without permission.

Cooper’s attorneys took action on Tuesday by filing a motion to dismiss the charges against him. To their satisfaction, the request was granted by a district judge in Marshall County on the very same day.
