Last Tuesday, police detained two people in connection with a kidnapping at a Sycamore View Road motel and a robbery and shooting at a Summer Avenue business.
The charges against Naquavus Collier, 22, and Makayla Powell, 24, include aggravated robbery and, more specifically, aggravated kidnapping and burglary.
According to investigators, one of the victims was named Collier, and Powell owned a silver Dodge Journey that was recorded on CCTV leaving the Summer Avenue shooting.
Two men and two women allegedly abducted a man at gunpoint from the Fair View Inn on Sycamore View Road. The victim claimed that the suspects pushed him into the back seat of a silver Dodge SUV, seized his wallet and mobile phone, and forced him to drive them to another friend’s house and knock on the door.
According to investigators, the culprits drove to an apartment above the storage locker on Summer, pushed their way inside, robbed a woman, and shot her partner in the leg. As they departed the scene, one man continued to fire a gun, according to a camera outside the establishment.
The kidnapped man claimed they transported him back to the OYO Hotel on Shelby Oaks Drive, but he managed to escape and alert the police. Officers say they found the Dodge Journey at the hotel.
A $222,500 bond is holding Collier in custody. Powell’s bail is set at $150,000. The court will see both of them on Friday.
