A 27-year prison sentence was handed down to a woman from Rochester, N.Y. on Tuesday. She was convicted for the brutal beating that led to the death of her 1-year-old son and the assault on her 2-year-old daughter last year.
Bryasia Love, aged 28, admitted to the charge of manslaughter on   May 20 in connection with the tragic death of A’Mias Love.
Judge Julie Hahn handed down a 25-year prison sentence to Love for the manslaughter charge, along with an additional two-year sentence for the assault.
A Rochester woman, who has been accused of murdering her 1-year-old son, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The woman was arrested for the murder of her child.
In a heartfelt letter read aloud by her attorney, Love expressed her sincere apologies for the pain she had caused.
Erica, Love’s aunt, was clearly dissatisfied with the judge’s verdict as she sat in the second row.
“My niece would never purposely harm her children; she adores them,” affirmed Erica. “She’s a caring individual. They discussed her hospitalization and mentioned that she was asleep, but no one mentioned losing track of time.”
Love deceived first responders, police, and doctors regarding the cause of her son’s fatal injuries, according to prosecutors. Child Protective Services revealed that Love was involved in an ongoing case prior to her arrest.
“It is difficult for us as a society to accept that a mother would engage in such behavior,” expressed VanStrydonck. “I understand the struggle. Being a mother myself, it is challenging for me to comprehend how a mother could commit such actions against her own children.”
