State Senator suggests state acquisition of toll bridge in western Alabama

The tolls have been lifted, granting free access to all routes leading to the beach. This move has prompted a state senator to propose a similar strategy for a smaller toll bridge in west Alabama. Situated in western Tuscaloosa County in Northport, the bridge is now under consideration for toll removal.

The toll has been in place since the Governor Don Siegelman administration, and it stretches over the Black Warrior River.

Allen has already had discussions with leaders from Tuscaloosa city and county regarding this issue. He intends to make an appearance before the Northport city council on Monday night. His goal is to present a collective resolution representing all three governments to governor Kay Ivey for further discussions.
